Business Days Calculator
Working days between dates (exclude weekends and holidays)
How this calculator works
This business days calculator counts workdays (usually Monday–Friday) and excludes weekends automatically. It supports two modes:
- Between dates: Count how many business days fall in a date range.
- Add business days: Move a date forward/back by N business days (use a negative number to subtract).
Use the inclusion toggles (include start/end or include base date) to match your policy.
Holidays: enter dates or use a count
Holiday rules differ across regions and organizations, so holidays are optional and fully controlled by you.
- Enter dates: Add specific holiday dates (best for accuracy).
- Enter count: If you only know “there are ~X holidays”, you can use a count estimate.
Note: weekends are excluded already; a holiday that falls on a weekend usually won’t change the result.
Examples
Between dates
Great for timesheets and payroll cycles. Toggle include-start/include-end to match your policy.
Add business days
Useful for SLAs, shipping lead times, ticket deadlines, and contract deliverables.
Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- Mixing calendar vs business days: “+5 days” is not the same as “+5 business days”.
- Unclear inclusion rules: Decide whether start and end are included.
- Holidays outside the range: Only holidays that land within your range (and on weekdays) affect the count.
